Dr. Bottger performs breast augmentation surgery usually under general anesthesia although local anesthesia with sedation can be an option in some patients.
The breast augmentation procedure begins with a small incision about an inch and a half in length, which is made either in the fold beneath the breast, around the lower half of the areola (dark skin around the nipple), or in the underarm area. Next, Dr. Bottger creates a pocket usually underneath the chest wall muscle. Then a breast implant is inserted into the pocket and inflated with saline solution. Dissolvable sutures are then placed under the skin. The procedure may take from one to two hours.
