World’s First Lightweight Breast Implant Recently Developed

Two Israeli brothers have recently developed the first lightweight silicone breast implant. The brother team – a plastic surgeon and a biomedical engineer – have named the implant B-Lite. The B-Lite breast implant will be available in Europe shortly, and it is currently undergoing clinical trials for approval in Israel.

One of the few issues impacting breast augmentation patients is the weight of the implants. Both silicone and saline breast implants weigh about as much as a can of Coke. When used for breast reconstruction after a mastectomy, breast implants can weigh even more. This weight ultimately speeds up the sagging process and in some cases, can cause skin stretching or back pain.

The B-Lite breast implant will hopefully address this issue once and for all. It utilizes technology that disperses hollow microspheres throughout a medical-grade silicone gel filling. As a result, B-Lite weighs approximately 30% less than other breast implants currently on the market.

It will be interesting to monitor the success of these breast implants as they become available in Europe, Asia, and South America. Due to a more involved approval process, it may take up to 7 years before they are available in the United States.

Dr. David Bottger always strives to stay on top of the latest technology in order to provide his Philadelphia breast augmentation patients with the best possible results and highest levels of safety. He will evaluate the B-Lite breast implant as it becomes available in the United States, and if he believes it will deliver the exceptional results his patients deserve, he will consider using it.

2014 May See New Breast Augmentation Innovations Approved by FDA

Breast augmentation has long been one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the country. The significant demand for this procedure has undoubtedly fueled the push in recent years to improve the technology used with breast augmentation procedures.

New types of breast implants that have recently been approved provide breast augmentation patients with more options than ever before. In 2013, the FDA approved two new breast implants for use in the United States – the Natrelle 410 and the Mentor Contour Profile Gel (CPG). Both of these breast implants are classified as “gummy bear implants.” They are made of a new type of cohesive silicone gel which holds its shape better than traditional silicone breast implant options while still providing a result that looks and feels very natural.

It seems like 2014 should offer several other new innovations to improve the options available to you. A new hybrid breast implant called Ideal Implant is poised to be approved by the FDA this year. Ideal Implant provides the natural look and feel of silicone breast implants with the safety benefits of saline implants. This new type of saline breast implant features lowered edges which will provide a better contour with your chest wall and a series of interior baffles which reduce the risk of rippling.

Dr. David Bottger is committed to providing his Philadelphia breast augmentation patients with the newest and most advanced options in order to deliver the beautiful, natural looking results you desire. Ask about some of these new innovations during your initial consultation.

Choosing a Breast Augmentation or Breast Lift

Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure in which implants are used to enhance the size, symmetry, and projection of your breasts. Often with breast augmentation, Philadelphia plastic surgeon Dr. David Bottger can improve the profile of your entire body, helping you look more voluptuous and feel more womanly.

Breast lift surgery addresses ptosis (sagging). With a breast lift, Dr. Bottger can lift your breasts to restore them to a more youthful and firmer appearance.

Many times, a breast implant is used in combination with a lift to enhance not only shape but also put back the fullness that has been lost after pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Factors that can cause breasts to sag may also result in a loss of volume or symmetry. For this reason, many women choose to combine breast augmentation with breast lift surgery. This enables Dr. Bottger to produce a fuller and firmer look to your upper body.

No single option is best for every woman. During your initial consultation with Dr. Bottger, all of your concerns will be addressed and the procedure or procedures best for your body will be determined.

In the last few months an entirely new kind of implant design has been placed on the US market that gives plastic surgeons the ability to correct many patients with mild ptosis (droop) with the implant alone, avoiding the need for the extra incisions needed to perform a lift. This new implant is tear-drop shaped and being thinner at the bottom end, it pushes the nipple and the breast gland forward, taking up the slack of the excess skin at the bottom of the breast and makes the droopy appearance almost disappear. Special training is required to purchase and use these implants but they offer to help more women than ever before with less surgery and more natural results.

New Technology May Improve Breast Cancer Screening for Women with Breast Implants

There are many considerations to account for when deciding whether to undergo breast augmentation. One of these is how it impacts your ability to detect the presence of breast cancer down the road.

Mammograms are not as effective after breast augmentation since tumors can hide behind breast implants during these x-rays. In fact, a British Medical Journal study recently revealed that breast cancer death rates are higher among women with breast implants due to the fact that the condition is often diagnosed much later.

In order to ensure breast cancer is detected as early as possible, you should also go for ultrasounds, which can detect cancerous tumors even when they are missed by a mammogram.

A new technology, called SonoCine, is making ultrasound screenings much more standardized, increasing the accuracy and detail of the results. SonoCine takes a series of moving pictures of different sections of your breast. On average, you will receive approximately 3,000 images from your SonoCine screening.

It is best to undergo mammograms as well as ultrasounds since ultrasounds are not as effective at detecting calcifications, which may be an early indicator of breast cancer.

During your initial consultation, Philadelphia breast augmentation surgeon Dr. David Bottger will discuss these considerations with you in great detail so that you can make a fully informed decision about your desired procedure. By taking these precautions, you can enjoy many benefits associated with breast implants while still being diligent regarding breast cancer detection.

New Study Finds Breast Implants May Improve Women’s Sex Lives

Are you looking for a way to boost your satisfaction in bed? You may want to consider undergoing breast augmentation. A new study has found that getting breast implants may improve a woman’s sex life.

The study, conducted by researchers in Brazil, evaluated 45 women who were about to undergo breast augmentation. Prior to their procedure, all the women answered a questionnaire which evaluated the quality of their sex lives and their sexual satisfaction. This questionnaire was administered again 2, 4, and 18 months after surgery.

The results were largely positive, although it seems that the quality of your results significantly impact whether you experience an improved sex life after getting breast implants. In particular, whether you develop stretch marks following your procedure significantly impacts the outlook for your sexual satisfaction.

Out of the 45 women included in the study, all 36 who did not develop stretch marks after getting breast implants experienced improved levels of arousal and increased sexual satisfaction. However, the 9 women who developed stretch marks did not experience a similar improvement in their sex lives.

This is yet another reason to carefully research your options when choosing a breast augmentation surgeon. Working with a highly skilled, board certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. David Bottger can ensure you achieve beautiful, natural looking results, allowing your sex life to soar after your procedure.

New Silicone Breast Implants May Contain Radio Frequency Chip to Diagnose Issues

There are many benefits to choosing silicone breast implants, most importantly a more natural look and feel, making them the most popular choice among breast augmentation patients. However, some of these benefits also create potential problems in the event of a rupture.

Silicone breast implants maintain their shape after a rupture. While this helps you maintain a beautiful appearance, it prevents you from knowing a rupture has occurred. But a new technological innovation from Establishment Labs may eliminate this issue.

Establishment Labs has recently developed a radio frequency identification (RFID) microchip which provides plastic surgeons and their patients with easier access to information about the implants. A handheld device can be used to identify the make, model, serial number, manufacturer name, and much more data about the breast implant.

This technology can provide women with increased safety and help identify issues such as a breast implant rupture more easily. Silicone breast implants in 28 European countries will be equipped with these microchips in the coming months. Establishment Labs is currently in the approval process for the device in other parts of the world.

For many women, breast augmentation can be a life-changing procedure, helping you look and feel your best. When performed by a highly skilled and experienced, board certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. David Bottger, the procedure is extremely safe. However, technology like this new microchip can help improve safety to even higher levels, benefitting all breast augmentation patients.
